Start of Collaboration for Social Adoption of Electric Micro Mobility
2020.07.20
ENEOS Holdings, Inc. has been aiming to create innovative businesses under the theme of “Sustainable Mobility Infrastructure”. Meanwhile, Luup, Inc. has been working to create a new short-distance mobility infrastructure in Japan through its micro-mobility sharing business. In the ENEOS Holdings (previously known as JXTG Holdings) Accelerator Program*1 held in 2019, Luup’s business proposal for electric micro-mobility sharing, including electric scooters, was accepted, after which the two companies discussed collaboration.
In the super-aging society of the future, supermarket shortages and car accidents among the elderly due to inadequate means of transportation close to their home are expected to become an issue. Electric micro-mobility*2 is attracting attention as a form of transport that can solve this problem. Our collaboration aims to build a sharing and optimal energy supply system for electric micro-mobility by 2023, with the goal of creating a society in which everyone can move freely.
Through this collaboration, ENEOS Holdings, Inc. and Luup, Inc. also plan to work together on regulatory compliance, which is an issue for the spread of electric micro-mobility in Japan.
Both companies are committed to creating the services demanded by customers and society and contributing to the development of society with a brighter future.
